Update:  01/09/2011 20:45 
 
Issue: 
At approx. 12.15pm today a core network switch unexpectedly failed.  BT's IPVS Disaster Recovery process automatically kicked in and failed over to one of their other group of switches.  End users may have experienced intermittent issues with calls for a period whilst voice service switched paths onto the other switches.  Some other non-voice platforms were not accessible after this incident.
 
Resolution:
An engineer was on site shortly after the incident to isolate the faulty switch and restore all other non-voice services.  Voice services were rolled back to the primary site just before 16:00 to help alleviate the residual call quality issues.
 
At 18:30 all other non-voice services were restored and fully accessible including:-
 
Service Delivery Platform SPA and Business Portals
Service Assurance
Support Centre
Billing Web Portal and FTP
