[Comtec Announce] IP Voice: Maintenance window 12th November 2010

Please be advised of the following maintenance window scheduled on the
IP Voice platform.

Date: Friday, 12th November 2010
Start time: 21:00 GMT
End time: 23:00 GMT

Purpose

Network equipment upgrade.

Impact

Potential brief impact to all services for customers that traverse IP
Voice Telecity 8/9 whilst switch stack is reloaded, though no services
are expected to be impacted at any point during the window – please
see below.

Category: Minor – At risk

Stage 1.

IOS will be upgraded on a Switch Stack in Telecity 8/9.

Customer traffic which transits this site may experience an
interruption in service whilst the stack is reloaded. Approx 5-10
mins. However, no interuption is expected due to the method of works,
platform architecture and in order to minimise any potential impact,
IP Voice will temporarily cease announcing its prefix from Telecity
8/9 whilst the switch stack is reloaded, forcing customer traffic
which transits this site to re-route to Telehouse East.

Stage 2.

Switch Stack Addition.

A new Switch will be added to the Switch Stack to Increase capacity
and port availability.

The network will be closely monitored by engineers during and over the
hours following this maintenance.

Contingency plan:

Should the above maintenance fail to be successful as planned then the
network topology will be restored to its prior state.
